Meet the Goats!

We’re a small herd of only four goat gals on the farm. We have two adults, and two babies we’ve raised since birth. Our two adult gals, Birdie and Gidget, came to our farm in July of 2024 from a dear friend who got us hooked on the idea of dairy goats. Our two babies, Schnitzel and Gizmo, joined us earthside in March of 2025, daughters to Gidget.

Birdie

Our sweet Bird is the oldest gal in our mini herd, but she certainly doesn’t act like it! Although she retired from dairy life this year, queen Birdie enjoys all the luxuries of dairy goat life – unlimited grazing on our 16 acres of pasture and alfalfa galore. Birdie gave us a small batch of milk after her last kidding in the spring of 2025, which we used to make a special set of goat milk soaps for our first ever market in fall of this year. They were divine!

Likes: Getting brushed, going on walks, and napping in the barn

Dislikes: Sharing alfalfa with Gidget

Gidget

Gidget is our star milk girl! She wowed us all in our first kidding season with quintuplets, a 1 in 10,000 occurrence. This season, she is the only gal we are breeding in the hopes for another spring full of fresh milk and adorable babies. She is a stellar milker on our homemade milk stand, and the most attentive mama. After this upcoming kidding season, Gidget will likely retire from the dairy life!

Likes: Snacking on the milk stand, digging holes, and napping in the sun

Dislikes: Dogs

Schnitzel

Schnitzel is one of the five sweet babies born to Gidget in March of 2025. Even though she was the second smallest of the five, we knew she was tough and strong from the beginning, and she continues to prove us right every day. The first time we saw her, I told my husband, “She looks just like a weiner dog!”. Her slightly bowed legs, wide and low stance, wagging tail, and cocked head made it uncanny. So, Schnitzel was her name!

Schnitzel is currently too young to introduce to the milking stand, but in the fall of 2026, we will likely have her and her sister Gizmo start as our next generation of milkers.

Likes: Eating everything, getting her head stuck in the fence, and hopping on logs

Dislikes: Being left out of our group walks in the pasture

Gizmo

The smallest of the five babies, Gizmo was an easy name choice. About as tall as a glass coke bottle, she stole our hearts immediately. Gizmo was one of three of Gidget’s babes we bottle fed from day one, as five babies for one mama, even an experienced one like Gidget, is too many to properly care for.

Gizmo is currently too young to breed, but will likely become the next generation of milkers on our farm, along with Schnitzel, in the fall of 2026.

Likes: Chewing on rubber boots and clothing, untying your shoe laces when you aren’t looking

Dislikes: Not being the center of attention
